The Medtronic Minimed 770G will be added to the Federal Governments Insulin Pump Program – a significant step toward achieving our goal of more technology for more people through our policy agenda.

So, what does this mean for you?

What is the Insulin Pump Program?

The IPP provides insulin pumps to families who have children under 18 years of age with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and meet the financial and clinical eligibility requirements. You can read more about the Insulin Pump Program here.

How do I apply for the Insulin Pump Program?

If you would like to apply for the JDRF Insulin Pump Program, you can visit pumps.jdrf.org.au.

What brought about the addition of the Medtronic 770G to the Insulin Pump Program?

The department has listened to our calls for newer technologies to be made available for families who would not otherwise be able to access an insulin pump.

What is the Medtronic 770G? What key features does it have?

You can read more about the Medtronic 770G on the Medtronic website.

I’m already on the Insulin Pump Program. Can I exchange for the Medtronic 770G?

Unfortunately there is no avenue to upgrade current pumps. Families will be able to apply for an upgrade at the end of their current warranty period.

How can I request the Medtronic 770G when applying for the Insulin Pump Program?

The application process and eligibility criteria remain the same. Pump choice is made in consultation between families and their treating diabetes team.

What if I already have an application in progress?

The Insulin Pump Program will be in contact with your diabetes team.
