Mr Narev will bring more than 30 years of strategy and leadership experience garnered across consulting finance and technology businesses.

JDRF Australia are delighted to welcome Ian Narev, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of SEEK to the Board. Mr Narev, who joined the Board at the September 2021 Board meeting, is no stranger to JDRF having spent several years as co-Chair of the JDRF Australia Advisory Board.

Alongside his historical involvement with JDRF, Mr Narev brings a diverse range of non-profit experience, including roles as Chair of Sydney Theatre Company and Chair of the advisory board of UNSW’s Gonski Institute of Education.

Commenting on the appointment, JDRF Australia Chairman Richard Goyder AO stated the appointment of Mr Narev was reflective of JDRF’s urgency and ambition. “We want to do all we can to make type one diabetes a memory for the 127,000 Australians and their families who live with this disease, as quickly as possible. We are grateful that Ian has agreed to join the JDRF Board, and having his substantial expertise and knowledge available to the organisation will help us accelerate our progress towards that goal”.

CEO of JDRF Australia, Mike Wilson OAM, noted how fortunate JDRF is to have a senior business leader and innovator of the calibre of Mr Narev bring his commercial skill and experience to our mission of a world without type one diabetes (T1D).

“On behalf of JDRF Australia and the wider T1D community, I welcome Ian to the Board. His experience leading some of Australia’s largest and most innovative businesses would be sought after by every non-profit, and we are fortunate to have him join our Board. We look forward to harnessing his skillset and his contribution to our growth and success”.

Reflecting on his appointment, Mr Narev stated he was looking forward to joining the JDRF Board. “I have worked closely with JDRF for nearly a decade. During that time, I have seen its measurable impact on issues affecting the T1D community in Australia and beyond. The opportunity to help such a well-run organisation continue its important work is very exciting, and I look forward to doing what I can to help.”

Ian commenced his role leading SEEK on July 1 2021, having joined the business in April 2019 in the dual roles of Chief Operating Officer and CEO of Asia Pacific and Americas. Before joining SEEK Ian spent 11 years at Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA). He was CBA’s Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director from 2011 until 2018. Prior to joining CBA Ian was a partner of McKinsey and Company.

Ian holds a Bachelor of Arts and Law (Honours) from the University of Auckland, and Masters of Law from Cambridge University (International Corporate Law) and New York University (International Relations).
