Breathe: help for parents of kids with T1D
Join us for our free online series on parenting kids and teens with type 1 diabetes.
‘Breathe’ helps you tweak your parenting now that type 1 diabetes (T1D) has joined the family.
This two-part series offers support, information and hope to parents and carers of children and teens who live with T1D.
The course is aimed at managing and supporting your child’s emotions and mental health after diagnosis. The insights you get will help your family in the months and years ahead.
Come and meet a group of parents who know what life is really like when T1D joins the family!
What sessions are coming up?
- Our next intake is for parents of teens. The sessions will be held on Wednesday 23 and 30 October at 8pm AEDT. Registrations are now open.
- Our last intake for the year is for parents of children under 12. It’s on Wednesday 6 and 13 November at 8pm AEDT. Registrations are now open.
What will be covered?
In these 60-minute sessions, hosted by psychologist and JDRF’s mental health lead Melanie Cullen, we look at ways to understand the impact of a chronic illness like T1D – not only on your child, but on you and the rest of your family. You’ll be able to share your stories, hear the experiences of other parents, and validate your feelings as you adjust to your ‘new normal’.
We’ll also discuss strategies to help make life easier and happier for the whole family.
