As an organisation, JDRF always has the health and wellbeing of its community at its core. Due to the ongoing spread of COVID-19, our concerns for community health and in line with the government’s directive on such events, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our 2020 Gala Ball events.
A significant amount of work has gone into the organisation of these events to date, and we thank volunteers, suppliers and staff for their support and understanding. However, we feel this is an appropriate response to a challenging situation. We are in the process of contacting individual ticket holders and sponsors to discuss next steps. If you have any pressing concerns, please contact your local JDRF office.
While the COVID-19 pandemic is a serious concern for us all at present, our enduring focus on tackling the challenges of T1D as a chronic, lifelong condition remains. To keep up this work, particularly at such a challenging time, we need your help, now, more than ever. There will be elements of the gala that we will be able to recreate without a physical gathering and will let you know when these are ready to go live. One in every four dollars we fundraise for research locally comes from our Galas, and we need your assistance in ensuring we can continue our momentum on finding new ways to treat, prevent and one day cure type one diabetes.
We thank you for your ongoing support and know we can count on you to continue partnering with us to help create a world without type one diabetes.
