COUNTDOWN
is the award-winning magazine published quarterly by the Juvenile
Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF).
Countdown
offers in-depth analysis about cutting-edge research and new
treatments, and also features poignant stories from some of
the more than 1 million people who have type 1 (juvenile)
diabetes and their families.
As Dr.
Sandra Puczynski, Countdown editorial committee co-chair,
explained in a recent issue:
"For
more than 15 years, Countdown has been the only magazine to
provide an in-depth, coherent presentation of how the needs
and lives of people with diabetes intersect with research
efforts to cure this debilitating disease.
At a recent
scientific meeting in Australia, I overheard a senior scientist
say, "Countdown is where I turn when I want to know what's
going on in diabetes research." We are happy to be filling
this important niche for research, and even more gratified
that we can do so in a magazine that provides volunteers,
donors, the media, and other non-scientists with access to
the same information written in a way that is, we hope, easily
understood."
Based
on the needs of people with diabetes, and their loved ones,
Countdown focuses on research and its potential to help people
with diabetes. It also provides articles on the effects of
research on the way people with diabetes must live their lives.
Your
subscription
to JDRF includes Countdown as well as the Australian Update
magazine and Countdown for Kids
for just $35 per year.
